Fall 2023

Greetings Alumni and Friends of the Weinert Center,

In this newsletter, we would like to share with you some exciting news and highlight some of our recent entrepreneurial activities.

What a great time to be involved in entrepreneurship activities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison! We are excited about the vision of Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin to make entrepreneurial thinking an integral part of education at our university. The Weinert Center continues to work with various stakeholders across campus to help define and implement this vision.

The fall newsletter covers a wide variety of activities and accomplishments by students and alumni alike. We kicked off the semester by collaborating with Discovery to Product (D2P) and the StartUp Learning Community to bring back the wildly popular Wisconsin Entrepreneurs Showcase event. Three amazing UW alumni shared their entrepreneurial journey and successful startup stories with close to 200 attendees. The Center welcomed the new MBA Fellowship Class of 2024 and took them on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Discovery building. The StartUp Learning Community’s signature event, the 100-Hour Challenge, took place in mid-November where students came up with innovative ideas using materials in their homes to win prize money. There is also an inspiring story of a Business & Entrepreneurship client dealing with mental health disparities in Dane County.

I invite you to read these stories that spotlight the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of our students and alumni. Thank you for your continued support and the central role that you play in enabling us to serve our students!

We hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Martin
