Biography
Bess Malson-Huddle teaches graduate and undergraduate Business Communication and serves as the MS/ MBA Communication Coordinator at the Wisconsin School of Business. She was formerly the Communications Coordinator for the Office of the President at the University of Vermont where she also served as the President’s speechwriter. She has published in scholarly and literary journals and, with UVM Professor Daniel Fogel, she edited a book on fiscal and political challenges for public universities.

Teaching Philosophy
Collaborating with other instructors across the WSB encourages me to experiment, grow, and learn. I consistently work with colleagues and students to create new workshops, assignments, activities, and classes based on the needs and interests of graduate and undergraduate students.
In my Business Communication course, I strive to create a student-focused community of writers and presenters and a classroom environment that supports professional development. Through experiential learning, small group workshops, student-generated paper topics, and research presentations, I encourage students to be proactive in their own learning process. To help students navigate the current challenges of online research, I focus on information literacy and professional strategies for research. I emphasize the efficiency and professional benefits of revising through peer feedback and assist students with writing and speaking assignments by addressing their individual goals, needs, and interests. Developments in pedagogy and technology encourage me to continually improve my classes by trying new things.
