I have been involved in the performing arts throughout my entire life. Being on stage is second nature for me, and whether it’s dancing, acting, singing or all three together, performing inspires me and fulfills my creative needs. Along with my involvement in the performing arts, I proudly put extra effort in all that I do and seek leadership roles in my endeavors. From performing 10 dances at a competition to choreographing my school’s varsity show choir set during my senior year of high school, staying engaged provides me with fulfillment. When I graduated from high school, I received a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts Degree at the same time. Fast forward two years and by the age of 20 I had a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and was prepared to advance my leadership in the field of arts administration.
While growing up, many of my teachers reflected that I am a natural leader. I’m willing to dive into a project, support others through a process, and work through inevitable mistakes and challenges to achieve success. Because of this, I was drawn to a career in arts management. The desire to channel my love for the arts and focus it on community development, while identifying ways to balance my passion with professional mindfulness and strategy, led me to seek a graduate business degree at the Wisconsin School of Business. Furthering my education through the Bolz Center for Arts Administration has enabled me to carve a path where I can hone my skills and talents through practical applications.
As someone from a younger generation, I firmly believe there is an immediate need for representation among my peers to create a positive impact on the future of the arts and social change. Through this program, I have learned how to develop my passion into powerful tools to make a lasting cultural impression.
As a born Midwesterner, I treasure the cultural diversity that Madison cultivates, the freedom of expression that is supported, and the city’s awareness for the art all around us. Through working at the Overture Center as a House Manager, I have been able to experience this cultivation firsthand. Being able to apply what is taught in our class to an actual job has been instrumental in ensuring I am gaining the deepest knowledge possible from my professors and guest lecturers.
I was recently hired as the Marketing Associate for the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and will be starting full-time after graduation. In this position I will be able to utilize skills from this program to ensure I have a positive impact and contribute to the success of the organization and decade long traditions such as the annual beloved Concerts on the Square.
I am grateful for the Bolz Center to allow me to continue to maximize my efforts, while still making sure I am creating attainable goals for myself. Through meeting and learning with these professors and classmates, I know I have made lifelong connections and will always have the Bolz Center and its alumni in my corner.
