Pepe Calle, divisional vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Canada and Latin America (CALA), today announced that  Andy Olen has been promoted to General Manager, Canada and Latin America effective April 4, 2011.  Previously General Manager, Canada, Andy will report to Pepe and will be relocating to Chicago, Ill.

In his new role, Andy will have commercial responsibility for sales and marketing for the Abbott Vascular (AV) business across Canada and Latin America. He will direct the strategic planning, execution, and implementation of sales and marketing strategies and long range plans for AV products and related technologies for the geography. Andy will also be responsible for profitably growing the business, managing key customer relationships, and motivating and maintaining a positive working environment throughout the CALA organization. Reporting to Andy will be Luiz Marcelo Anieri, General Manager, Latin America; Andrew Cooke, area controller, CALA; and a General Manager, Canada, to be named.

Andy joined Abbott in 2003 as an MBA intern and was subsequently a participant in the legacy Guidant management development program. He played a key role in the integration of the Guidant and Abbott U.S. sales organizations, and then became manager, U.S. Commercial Operations; manager, Marketing, U.S. Drug Eluting Stents; manager, National Sales, Canada; and most recently, General Manager, Canada.

Andy holds an master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
