Eric J. Larson, CFA is Managing Director of the Food, Agribusiness & Foodservice Sector and joined the Janney Equity Research team in 2014.
Mr. Larson has spent the majority of his career as a sell-side analyst, beginning with Paine Webber Mitchell Hutchins in 1982, covering household products, personal care and food. In 1986, Eric joined First Boston, covering packaged food, foodservice and agribusiness industries. In 1992, he joined Morgan Stanley, analyzing consumers industries including packaged food, foodservice, agribusiness, beverage and tobacco. From 1996 to 2001, Eric was Senior Vice President of Finance at General Mills with numerous responsibilities, including Head of Investor Relations. In 2001, Eric returned to the Street with Piper Jaffray as Co-Head of Equity Research and finally as an analyst for another 6 years. Eric’s coverage responsibilities at Piper included food, agribusiness and alternative energy. Finally, he was a senior portfolio manager for two years at Somerset Asset Management with $500m AUM.
Mr. Larson has received numerous recognition awards during his sell-side career: he was a member of the Institutional Investor’s “All-American Research Team” for 10 consecutive years and one of the top three food analysts in Greenwich Research for eight consecutive years. In addition, Eric was also recognized by the Wall Street Journal Poll’s “Best On The Street” survey four times across multiple industries for both earnings accuracy and stock picking.
Eric graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with both a BBA in accounting, finance and risk management and a Master’s of Science in Finance.
