Congratulations! You’ve discovered the 100% objectively best MBA program in the world! You might be wondering what the day-to-day life of a UW-Madison MBA student looks like. While everyone’s working style is unique, I hope this schedule helps you gain a better understanding of what your life as an MBA student would look like.
5:00 am – 9:00 am (you know where you fall in this spectrum)
Wake up. Check email, check calendar, check the news, check social media, check the weather.
9:30 am
First core class of the day. All MBA students take core classes together so it’s a good opportunity to get to know people outside of your specialization.
10:45 am
15 minute break before the second core class starts. Make sure to grab some coffee or a snack at the Capital Café.
12:15 pm
Second core class ends. Are you going to study at Grainger for a while or head home? For most people, it depends on how far away they live, what they want for lunch, and their optimal study conditions.
1:00 pm
Now the real work begins. Readings, assignments, attending office hours, attending specialization classes, studying for exams, asking your friends for help, networking with alumni, attending informational sessions, meeting with your career coach to discuss your internship/job search, meeting with your core team to work on the latest group project, cleaning your apartment…
5:00 pm
Double check your calendar. Are there any MBA social events planned? Go! You deserve a break and a chance to show off your skills at trivia/bowling/skating/skiing/Pictionary/etc. If there isn’t, check in with your classmates to see what they’re doing.
7:00ish pm
Set aside some time for your personal connections outside of school. Whether that’s your family, old friends, significant other, or pets.
8:00 pm – 11:30 pm (again, you know who are)
Make sure you’ve turned in all your assignments for today and finished the readings/prep work for class tomorrow. Are you caught up in all your classes? You might feel like you’re not, but don’t worry, that’s ok! There’s always tomorrow.
