Hi there! My name is Theodore Prime and I am a Consortium Fellow, Marsh McLennan RISE Fellow, and rising 2nd year MBA student specializing in Strategic HR Management at the Wisconsin School of Business at UW-Madison.
This spring, I had the honor of being selected for Johnson and Johnson’s (J&J) Experienced HR Leadership Development Program (E-HRLDP) at their corporate headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ. The E-HRLDP Internship is a 10-12 week program enabling highly motivated graduate students to demonstrate their potential to be Johnson & Johnson’s HR Leaders of the future.
I was assigned the role of an HR Business Partner for the DePuy Synthes Knees Business within the company’s MedTech portfolio. My summer project was designing a workplace engagement and culture strategy to improve leadership-employee communication and recognition to facilitate better employee retention and productivity. To address my assignment, I generated three low-cost, high-impact recommendations, three strategic action plans articulating step-by step project execution, and a two-page executive summary that would help future people leaders obtain leadership buy-in to further my work post-internship.
Along my internship journey, I chronicled my learnings via several LinkedIn posts to help address common questions prospective candidates have about J&J and this elite program.
Below, you’ll find links to those LinkedIn posts spanning my first and last day in New Brunswick. You’ll learn about J&J’s culture, the nuances of HR at a Fortune 500 company, and how these insights will shape my perspective as a future HR leader and Wisconsin Badger alumnus.
