In an effort to gain insight from our alumni audience, the Wisconsin School of Business reached out to Business Badgers to gauge interest in lending a hand. And boy, were they interested.
More than 1,000 WSB alumni are now members of a new online initiative called the Alumni Voice Panel. It’s an opportunity for WSB alumni to share their insights and opinions on alumni programming, events, and communications.
WSB Alumni Relations staff had a target of 300 alumni for the panel, and sent out invitations via email in November. That goal was reached within hours and acceptances from eager Business Badgers continued to roll in until the deadline at the end of the month.
“We were overwhelmed with the response, in a positive way,” says Shannon Timm (B.S. ’08, MBA ’19), director of alumni relations at WSB. “We have a passionate community of Business Badger alumni and their insights are not only important to us, but as with all businesses, make us smarter in how we approach our work.”

The panel has already begun its work, providing WSB with insights about how they consume content and what type they consume. Once a month, panel members will receive a brief survey that will tap into their opinions on alumni programming, events, and communications. Their work provides the Alumni Relations Department with valuable insights from panelists who have a new opportunity to connect with WSB and help improve the alumni experience for the entire Business Badger network.
The panel is representative of the overall WSB alumni population in age, gender, geography, and education. Panelists graduated from the 1940s through 2018 and work in many industries.
Here’s a peek at more details about the members of the Alumni Voice Panel.
