My name is Berenice Rodriguez, and I am a rising second-year in the Strategic Human Resource Management specialization. Here’s an update on what I accomplished this past summer at HP, Inc. in my HR Management Associate Program Internship.

I supported developing the framework and project management of the HP Racial and Social Equality Task Force with the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Lesley Slaton Brown. A key learning for me was that while many corporations were quick to act to respond to the tragic murder of George Floyd and calls for justice for the countless Black lives lost in similar ways, it not only takes words but actions to back up company values. While no company is perfect, I was very impressed with the thoughtfulness of responses made and the continued strategic process in developing the Task Force for future advances for equality.

I would have to say two things helped me prepare for my time at HP: the Wisconsin Full-Time MBA’s global business trip that concluded with a successful presentation on the next steps for our client, and our HR Capstone course. Project management!
