We had excellent participation at our October 19th Advisory Board and Alumni event. We consider this event to be one of the most important days on our academic calendar and enjoyed sharing the strengths of our program with all our guests. Our keynote speaker, Peter Gunder, who is the Chief Business Development Officer at American Family, gave an impactful presentation highlighting how American Family has transformed its organization. In addition, our students showcased their transformations, as 2nd year students presented their recommendations from our Applied Corporate Finance consulting projects. Our projects this semester include: Amazon (quantify the impact of new tariffs on Amazon’s customers), Proctor and Gamble (quantify the value of economies of scale) and WARF (conduct an early stage financial modeling and valuation workshop for entrepreneurs).
We also introduced two new Advisory Board members — Kristi L. Peterson (Exec. Director & Corp. Controller at S.C. Johnson) and Heather Pahl (Class of 2008 and Exec. Director-Finance at Johnson Controls). Finally, we conducted our Advisory Board meeting in an open setting where all students and alumni were encouraged to attend. Everyone was given the opportunity to contribute and ask questions. For the students, it was a first-hand look at how dedicated our Board and Alumni are to the program and their success.
Finally, our students met one-on-one with Board Members and Alumni at our networking luncheon – an opportunity they had looked forward to since arriving on campus.
I don’t think we can express enough gratitude for our dedicated alumni. It is always a joy to see them again and to be reminded about how important our program is to them.
