Congratulate to Erin Tenderholt and Jessica Reigh, representing Blexx Technology, for their overall 2nd place finish in the semi-finals of the 2019 Schulze Entrepreneurship Challenge!
Simply receiving an invitation to participate in the e-Fest finals is a huge accomplishment. Over one hundred video pitches were submitted, and from these, 25 teams were invited to the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship in Minneapolis for the competition finals and championship round of e-Fest 2019 and the Schulze Entrepreneurship Challenge. e-Fest saw a very strong field of entries this year, and only teams who consistently rated high among the nine judging criteria would make it into the top 25 invitees. This entrepreneurship event is open to undergraduate students in North America and offers $250,000 in cash prizes. The main goal of the competition is to recognize exciting student ideas for products, services, and ventures. The competition also aims to inspire student learning and networking around an entrepreneurial mindset and encourages methods to create, validate, and communicate about solutions to problems.
Blexx Technology CEO Erin Tenderholt has developed a safer and more effective way to manage and dispose of discarded hypodermic needles. She mentions that her main highlight was “meeting other student entrepreneurs. It was so cool to see other student’s ideas and the drive that has gotten them to where they are.” Erin placed 3rd in the pitch competition and Jess placed 2nd in the innovation challenge.
Erin is graduating in May 2019 with a double major in entrepreneurship and risk management and working on Blexx Technology full time. Jess will also be graduating in May 2019 with a double major in marketing and management and will be working at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Blexx is also a semi-finalist in the Governor’s Business Plan Contest.
