This past summer I had the incredible opportunity to work as a Brand Management intern at General Mills. Over the course of 10 extremely quick weeks, I learned and grew to an extent that I never thought possible. I had the pleasure of working on the billion-dollar brand Nature Valley. A perfect fit for those who know my love of outdoor adventure in my free time. I was surrounded by an incredible cross-functional team and multiple Marketing Leadership Institute Alumni who all provided mentorship and support as I worked to solve two large and relevant business challenges. Through these, I was able to dive deep into projects developing product support strategies and market share growth opportunities. Ultimately, I presented my recommendations to my brand unit director, manager, and entire cross-functional team.
While my stated specialization within the MBA program is Marketing Analytics and Consumer Insights, the new and combined Marketing Leadership Institute support my decision to accept a summer internship in Brand Management. Accepting a brand management internship allowed me to gain broader professional business management skills. While my data-heavy projects allowed me to leverage my qualitative and quantitative data skills. Creating an excellent demonstration of how Consumer Insights supports Brand Management decision-making. This experience was invaluable going into my second year of the MBA program and as I continue forward with my full-time job search.
Thank you so much to Kristin, Christine, Giustina, Alan, and all of my fellow students in the MLI for your continued support and all of the excellent work you do to move our careers forward!
